With a sale schedule, you decide when attendees can buy a ticket type. This is useful for strategies like an Early Bird ticket that stops selling before Regular tickets open. This article explains how to set it up.

## Setting the sale date & time

1. Open the **Tickets** tab, then edit the ticket type you want to set.
2. Fill in the **Sale Start** field with the date & time the ticket goes on sale.
3. Fill in the **Sale End** field with the date & time the ticket stops selling.
4. Save your changes.

Before the start time, the ticket can't be bought yet. After the end time, the ticket automatically stops selling.

If you leave both fields empty, the ticket is on sale from when the event is published **until the event ends**. If you fill them in, **Sale Start** and **Sale End** can't be later than the event's start time.

## Ticket sale status

Besides the schedule, every ticket type has a **Sale Status** that you can change anytime in the ticket form:

- **Active** — the ticket is shown to attendees and can be bought according to the sale schedule.
- **Paused** — the ticket is still shown to attendees with a **Sales Paused** label, but can't be bought until you resume it.
- **Hidden** — the ticket isn't shown to attendees and can't be bought.

Changing the status doesn't delete the ticket data, so you can switch it back anytime.

In the **Tickets** tab, the **Status** column combines the schedule and the sale status: tickets outside their schedule show **Not started** or **Ended**, while manual statuses show **Paused** or **Hidden**.

## Pausing & resuming sales

For a live event, you can pause sales with one click:

1. Open the **Tickets** tab on your event.
2. Click the **Pause sales** button (⏸ icon) on the ticket type's row. On your phone, tap the **⋯** icon on the ticket card, then choose **Pause sales**.
3. To open sales again, click **Resume sales** (▶ icon) on the same row.

This button can't be used when sales can't be paused, for example when the event has ended, the event isn't published yet, the ticket is hidden, or its sale schedule has already passed. The reason appears when you hover over the button (on your phone, it's written below the menu option).

Pausing is handy when you need to hold sales for a while, for example to check the quota or wait for venue confirmation, without making the ticket disappear from the event page.

> **Buyers who already ordered are safe**
>
> Pausing or hiding a ticket only closes new orders. Attendees who have already picked a ticket and are in the middle of checkout can still finish paying as long as their reservation time hasn't run out.

> **Schedule vs sale status**
>
> The sale schedule controls availability based on time, while the sale status is a manual switch. A ticket can only be bought if it's **Active** and within its sale schedule.

> **When to use Paused or Hidden?**
>
> Use **Paused** when attendees should know the ticket exists and will open again. Use **Hidden** for tickets that aren't ready to be announced (for example, the next wave) or that you no longer want to show.
